  • New Common Loon Nesting Platform Isle Scenic Overlook April 24, 2024 MN Backyard Birds

Hello, here are a few pics of us launching the Common Loon ANP on Lake Mille Lacs from Wednesday April 24, 2024.  The ANP (artificial nesting platform) was placed approximately 75 yards off shore from the Isle scenic overlook just outside of the town of Isle. The ANP was placed in about 4-6' of water with the entrance facing the shoreline.  The ANP has a canopy to help protect from Bald Eagle, also covered with dried vegetation to make it appear natural.  Please go and check it out and report any issues to the Mille Lacs Scenic Byway committee. Also plan on adding some signage on the Common Loon from the MN DNR and a sign "get the lead out" from the MN PCA.  In the near future a small trail with a bench overlooking the lake and the new platform!  I will continue to provide updates on the status of the ANP and any improvements made to the overlook for better viewing.  Thanks. Sincerely, Updated: April 26, 2024 Attract and Enjoy more birds with Birdscaping!
